The Princess
and the Pea. Written and illustrated by Rachel Isadora.
I love this
story because it removes the stereotypes usually associated with princesses,
white with blond hair and blue eyes, and replaces it with someone with whom
little girls like me will be able to identify. This will help boost their
self-esteem and improve their self-concept.
This book was not around when I was a child, but I had other great writers like Toni Morrison and Alice Walker to help me learn to appreciate my differences.
